Amazon is advertising in the US for a content acquisition manager for a planned digital music service. Virgin Digital is already in the US market and HMV is about to launch a revamped DMS at the beginning of September. If past practice is anything to go by then expect a UK service about 4-6 months after the US launches.

Update: Digital Music News is reporting that Amazon’s DMS is likely to be powered by MusicNet, which would put it in the 1 million+ catalogue category but also firmly planted in the Windows Media camp, which is good news for Microsoft but bad news for the consumer as it does nothing to move forward the interoperability issue.
