Apple’s iTunes Japan launch is revealing much more than simply the company’s expansion plans or the strength of the Japanese music market. MacUser reports that it could also show the future pricing strategy for iTunes as iTunes Japan is the first and only iteration of the successful digital music service to break the one price fits all strategy. 2006 will be a crucial period for Apple as that’s the time many of its music licensing arrangements need to be renegotiated.

Should make for interesting discussions as both sides hold very powerful and big cards.
