eMusic, one of the original digital music services (DMS), has passed the 100,000 subscriber mark worldwide. When compared to Real Rhapsody’s 1.1 million and Napster’s 400,000+, it’s not tremendous but then eMusic has a smaller catalogue and one that’s focused on the indie sector. eMusic is much more progressive than its rivals though, embracing MP3, synchronised PC and mobile downloads and, dammit, they’ve been doing it longer and better. So, here’s to eMusic and the next 100,000.
