Another half-hearted attempt to create the villian of the piece in the digital music services world. The attempted fitup victim? Ah, no surprises there – Apple. Key accuser – erm, Napster! More of the same old, same old in that Apple is the villan for not opening up its system and services to other DMS but when you’re running the show and the only complaints come from your competitors, would you change the game to suit them?

More interesting is a piece in Slate that looks at how the iPod could be the media centre in our homes and the potential of products such as Vingle (electronic transmission of downloadable audio and video files). There’s a long way to go and Sony’s PSP is leading the way at the moment.
