French electronics manufacturer Thomson has decided to call it quits in the digital audio player market. It said that pressure from the Far East and Apple has forced its hand, however, there are reportedly many Far East manufacturers pulling out as well as the iPod dominates all before it. It’s not only hard drive-based players affected but also Flash players as a real shortage of Flash memory starts to kick in – again Apple has sewn up many a supply deal to hoover up as much as possible.
