Steve Jobs is on stage in San Francisco and I’m once again wishing I was there to witness what is, by all accounts, a unique technology presentation. So, for the year past Apple has sold 42 million iPods in total but of that 32 million were in the past year alone! iTunes is now selling 3 million songs a day and overall has sold 850 million to date. Jobs described it as a Billion Song A Year Rate. It’s enjoying a staggering 83% market share.

And, the iPod has a new friend, a remote that includes an FM receiver, so neatly adding radio functionality to all iPods. They’ll be a new software release to allow tuning of the radio through the iPod and a new screen to show. It’ll cost $49 (roughly £25). Fingers crossed that in the year to come Apple will introduce a DAB version for the UK market.
