Hob knobbing with the great and good at Midem will be the major players involved with Mashboxx and according to the company, a beta release is creeping ever closer.

“Due to the process of obtaining the proper authorization from the music industry and building a fun and easy-to-use peer to peer service, we have been unavoidably delayed in launching our public beta. The good news is that our software is currently in a closed private beta, and we will soon have the music industry authorization finally solidified so that we can release Mashboxx to the public.”

So far, officially sanctioned P2P services number just one and in the UK, we have PlayLouder with its walled garden, which is sort of, kinda like it. It’s very early days for P2P and some of the industry noise has dropped off of late.

More from Midem during the week.
