Only weeks after slimming down staff numbers, announcing 500,000 subscribers worldwide and deny plans for closure or sale Napster could be about to be swallowed whole by Google, according to the NY Post. There’s a logic to the move should it happen, as Napster is burning cash that it has a very definite limit to, while Google is known to be keen to move into the digital music services space and building their own would be slow and expensive. Napster are in a quiet period until 8 Feb and their financials update, so it could be quite a week between now and then.
