Yup, that’s the ever growing rumour. Online retailer Amazon is looking to launch a Windows-based sibscription digital music service, coupled with its own branded players. While Amazon has championed many aspects of online shopping, this new role will certainly test Bezos and his team’s ability to make a tough sell work. While reaching millions of folks through free advertising and marketing through the site, the subscription market is most definitely unproven. That said, DMS that have been coupled (should I say financially supported) with other revenues streams have proven most successful. I will welcome the addition to the marketplace, if it helps raise the profile of subscriptions then that has to be a good thing for all.
