Just over three years and 21 countries later, Apple’s iTunes shipped its 1 billionth legal music download yesterday. Despite all the criticism from within the music industry and from the PC/iPod killer brigade, there seems little that can slow down the Apple juggernaut. The lucky devil, Alex Ostrovsky, who downloaded song number 1 billion, received a $10,000 iTunes voucher, 10 iPods and an iMac. And his name shall ever more go down in music history, well, ok for this week at least.

On the day, I found this out I was having lunch, having been turned down for a job (boo hoo for me), only to walk pasta very glum-looking head of Napster UK. Maybe it was just the food? My calzone was very nice though.
