Stock dealers are keeping faith with Napster, keeping its rating at a high despite the darkening picture for digital music services other than Apple and iTunes. Forbes Magazine is quoting a report from Piper Jaffray that not only expects great things from the company but also and more interestingly a shift to a business model where a major revenue source is through advertising on the company’s website and service. The US website gets 2 million-3 million visitors a month. It’s a familiar sounding tale – ‘we’ll get by on our advertising revenue’ but with online ad spend hitting the highs of six years ago and beyond maybe this might have some legs.

On another note the company has followed in the footsteps of Mobster and Pandora amongst other with a personalised playlist creation tool based on your previous listening. Combine that with more social tools and this could get really interesting.
