Shazam has launched what it’s calling ‘the world’s largest and most comprehensive music discovery engine.’
Using Shazam’s Ultimate Music Discovery Engine, you can tag tracks by dialling 2580 on a mobile and pointing the handset at a music source, but also buy related products. Having received the music recognition result by SMS, users can now choose to buy associated products such as ringtones, full track downloads, wallpapers, cover art and even CDs or gig tickets. Shazam is partnering with Amazon, Ticketmaster, i-Tunes and Kelkoo among others to enable the service.

The service is based on subscription: for £3 per month, users can tag unlimited songs when they’re out and about; for £4.50, they can tag an unlimited number of songs and will also receive two additional products, either ringtones or full track downloads.

Additionally, the company announced the first in-device music recognition solution for Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 powered smartphones. The application, called TagIt!, enables users to “tag” a music track and identify it using Shazam’s signature extraction technology.
