Storm clouds are gathering over the Russian digital music service (DMS) as the UK government has been lobbying at the G8 summit in St Petersburg. The IFPI and BPI must have a lot more influence that most people give it credit if something as trivial as a rogue DMS is worthy of the attention of the world’s foremost leaders. Even the original Naptser wasn’t worthy of such actions.

The BPI already has won the legal right to sue AllofMP3 even though it’s quite clearly based outside of UK jurisdiction. If only the labels would apply so much time, money and effort to changing their outmoded form of doing business.
