Whether it’s hardware sales or digital music downloads, according to new US research, it’s women that are taking to it fastest at the moment. Stats from the Solutions Research Group, based on a phone poll of just over 1,000 respondents, show that women aged 15-49 are the hot demographic buying more iPods – which seems to have increased its market dominance – and buying more downloads than men. Ownership of iPods grew threefold amongst women and downloads grew amongst all digital music buyers grew to 45% of all US Internet users from 31% 12 months previously. Better still those paying for downloaded music grew to 23% of all users from 8%.
