eMusic has been doing it for ages and now Yahoo Music Unlimited, which is probably smaller than eMusic in terms of being a digital music service (DMS),is joining the non-DRM MP3 party. It’ll be selling Jessica Simpson’s single A Public Affair for $1.99 in what’s being termed the Simpson Experiment. Who knows, could it be the start of something?

Apparently, the double-the-iTunes price point is down to the fact that you can get your name inserted into the song not the lack of a DRM. Now what was that story from a while back about flexible pricing? Oh no, that’s right, the labels wanted and the leading DMS didn’t. I’m sure that’s not connected either.
