Legislation that could have forced Apple to enable interoperability with its iTunes software has passed into French law. However, the version on the statute books is somewhat watered down as anyone can request the facility to work with Apple’s Fairplay DRM but they have to compensate the company. France’s socialists have said that if elected they will seek to return to the original version that was somewhatmore stringent i.e. no compensation and complete interoperability … ah well, one day.
