The five year old partnership of Sony and Ericsson is certainly bearing fruit with music-enabled handset sales taking off in a major way with nearly a 50% rise over the same quarterly period a year ago to approximately 19.8 million units. SE is well ahead of the mobile pack as its current portfolio is heavily weighted towards music-based handsets, things will change though as Nokia, LG, Motorola and others start rolling out their new ranges, especially Nokie with its digital music service arm in the form of Loudeye.
