The music industry has been bitching back at Apple’s Steve Jobs after his call for th end of DRM. Though many surveys of music industry insiders and outsiders have pointed to general agreement with Jobs view that DRM is not working and so let’s get rid of it, publicly they said his statements were a red herring.

Jobs call for an open and flat playing field was made from a position of strength for iPod+iTunes but more accurately he’s merely echoing the ideas and general feeling rolling around the digital music space.

It’s as clear as day that both the lack of interoperability between services and players and also the barriers between the computer and mobile platforms has to go or the digital music world will wither.
