Poor old Michael Robertson. Makes a fortune in software, decides to jump into the world of digital music and for all his pains and efforts, all that happens is that he gets sued. This time EMI are taking him to the court in Manhattan over the Sideload and MP3tunes websites for wilful infringement of copyright.

Only seven short years ago, Mr Robertson was again in the major labels sites for MP3.com, which he subsequently sold to C|Net. To be fair, he doesn’t help himself by repeatedly sailing very close to the wind on both occasions but the ideas and technology from all three sites are something that the labels would do well to embrace and find a way of working with but it’s pretty hard to see something like that when your head is stuck…in the sand.
