Physical sales are sliding still but the rise of digital sales continues apace. There were a series of mini announcements at the Digital Music Forum in New York with Island/Geffen/A&M reporting digital sales making up 40% of their total while SonyBMG state that 35-40% of their sales are coming from digital. Universal Music as a whole have said that digital is now 15.7%, up from 11.5% at end-2006.

Admittedly, these figures include mobile, which is not such a strong factor in the UK with sideloading, complex processes and overpricing eating into mobile’s music progress.
