dog-eared-smBill Buxton has got great chops, check out his Sketching User Experiences book, but having watched a presentation from him at Mix 09 he makes one simple but absolutely spot on observation. It’s not simply about facing forwards, it’s about learning, not copying, from the past. And though the economy is tanking around the world, now is quite possibly the best time to start a user experience consultancy (phew!) as you can produce great return on investment for your customers. Additionally, there is a growing realisation that it’s about the experience and not simply the object itself. That object can be physical or digital, that doesn’t matter.

It’s a short talk but personally, I found it really uplifting and energising.
